    Finally!

I was searching for the description of a process through the net and I found this page.

A very incitive page on the different process that you can find on your machine. It even tells you which processes are viruses!

Very useful page! Check it out!

My poor iPod is without a health plan...

Man, I finally get down to enrolling the apple care plan that I bought for my iPod back in September (I know, I know, a little late for that).

Well, it results that I need the agreement number found on some box when I bought it. I don't know if I ever received that box...or even if I did, if I threw it away. The thing is that I bought my iPod (and the APP) in Austin, TX. So, I can't even do anything locally I think.

I bought my Applecare plan at CompUSA. Perhaps I can call CompUSA and they will be able to provide me with the agreement number?

I cannot believe that it would be lost forever...

    I suck...

    WHY???????

Why and how do wireless networks get disconfigured???

    WHY???

I have my little wireless network setup. You know, just a simple cable modem connected to a wireless router and that propogates a nice wireless signal through out my apt.

I have it that it has MAC filtering but no encryption. Not bad.

BUT! Every once in a while, my wireless configuration gets disconfigured. Windows keeps detecting that my wireless is security enabled, when it's not. At first it begins by saying that it is WPA enabled. And I go over to the wireless settings and I remove the connection manually. I add it again manually, with the proper settings. "At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to the wireless configuration."

WHY?????????? Why was it not applied successfully? It's not like I don't have administrator priveleges that I can't be applying those type of changes. WHY????

This is very very frustrating. It should not be difficult to configure a wireless network, you know??? But man, what am I doing wrong?

What device is doing the wrong thing? Is it the wireless router that is not sending the proper singal??? Is it Windows who stayed with an old (or wrong) configuration?

    Can anybody shed some light?

    Better security against spyware

So, I was doing a software setup in my home machine when I looked at a folder in the C:\, the Temp folder. When I go into the folder I notice that there are various install files for different spyware programs. They were all downloaded on August 17, 2004.

    I was like, What the...?

Now, me being a smart girl and all, I know that I shouldn't be going to websites that I shouldn't be going to...especially when this type of thing happens. Yet, somehow spyware managed to get downloaded in my home machine.

My question is, how can this type of thing really be prevented? For example, is there a way to avoid these "silent" downloads of spyware software.

I have my firewall turned and I have pop-up blockers. I don't open suspicious e-mails...not even from people in my address book. I don't go to websites I shouldn't be going to.

    So, what gives? Any suggestions?

Computers can be so frustrating now a days

So yeah, even us 133t people who work with computers all day get frustrated with them.

    My frustration? Setting up machines...GGGGGGRRRRRRR

If it's not that one doesn't have a CD-ROM, then it's one that doesn't have a floppy drive, another that the network drivers are soo new that you have to get them from the internet and well, how can you connect when the network card doesn't work!

Or it's that it needs an install CD when you don't have it...or that it doesn't recognize the external CD-ROM, or that you can't find a freakin' floppy anymore...

GGGGRRRRRRRR....yes people...we get frustrated with computers too....

    Frustrated with computers and viruses...

Why??? Why do viruses and worms exist??? Why do they have to infect your windows computer and then bring you frustrations???

One of the things that my family asked me to do was check the desktop (like always) because it got messed up while trying to get Earthlink installed (that's another story...). My diagnosis was that it was beyond normal repair...so what else is there to do? Format...

Well, that I did...and now, for some strange reason the desktop is infected with some worms I don't know from where. I suspect that the CD of the video card is infected, because that is basically the first thing I install (even before connecting to the net and stuff) and I think that it gets infected.

I'm downloading new drivers from the website...to see if I format one more time and installing Norton 2005 (which I am also downloading) I can get the desktop up and running before I leave...
