    My Bonzai Sprouted!!!!

Well, a week ago I bought a little Bonzai started kit.

It brings a vase, the proper soil, some decorations and Hyssop seeds.

I prepared the things last week, hoping that I will be able to nurture my Bonzai tree.

So, I realized on Monday when I came in, that the soil had dried up quite a bit. I was like, oh no! I killed it! I quickly watered it and have been keeping the soil moist this past week.

This morning I checked it, and there was nothing there.

I decided to water it right now and guess what!!! A little leaf just popped out of the soil!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I am so EXCITED! I mean, it's actually growing. I am raising a little Bonzai tree! Oh, I'm such a proud mother!

    YAY!!!

    Ana - the gardner

I was talking to a few co-workers today and I think I want to try and plant strawberries. Although, I think that since we are nearing the end of Spring (well, we are in the middle of Spring) I don't know how much time I will have left.

Just looking for new things to try. Imagine that, fresh strawberries every morning.

    OH YUMMY!

My puzzle pictures and pictures of fire

So, here is the picture of the Sanctuary puzzle.

Also, a picture of the next puzzle. A 1000 piece puzzle of Lord of the Rings. You know, me being such a huge LotR fan. I even went to the marathon and darn proud of it!

Also, I was playing around with the camera one night when I had my fireplace going. I don't know, I think that the pictures came out alright for just being a digital camera, and fire being so hard to photograph.

    Enjoy!

    The art of photography

So, on Friday, I got somebody to actually start explaining to me the art of photography. Johnny showed me what the different settings in the "manual" function do and how you can use each one to your advantage. On saturday, as I was leaving my singing teacher's apartment, I saw some very nice blooming white trees in the courtyard. I decided to put my new found knowledge to use. Below are the results.

As you can observe, the second White tree picture is sharper than the first. That's because I played around with the white balance and the ISO speed.

I especially think that the white flower pictures came out beautiful. Especially the second one.

I know what is going to be my new wallpaper....

My singing teacher has a lot of faith...

So, I have been practicing two songs from West Side Story in my singing lessons:

    I Feel Pretty and Somewhere

My singing teacher recommened me to see West Side Story (or at least those parts) so I can study how the actress actually does it. Man....I sometimes think that my singing teacher has too much faith. The actress sings REALLY well...very pretty. And sometimes in those moments I get a bit discouraged thinking I will never have a voice like that. But hey, I should start thinking like the Little Train That Could...I know I can, I know I can.

    A part from Somewhere:

There's a time for us, some day a time for us, time together with time to spare, time to learn, time to care, some day!

    Amazing things with Legos...

As always, I was listening to my favorite station, C-89.5 FM. They have these mini sessions where they give some headlines in Seattle news.

One of the things they mentioned was that Nathan Sawaya is trying to build a record breaking Lego Boat at Seattle's Boat Show. I went to Nathan's webiste after seeing in a headline that he is "one of the foremost Lego sculptors". I got curious to see how good he can be.

All I can say is: WOW! Just simply check this out, HAN SOLO IN CARBONITE! LIFE SIZE! The man has some mad skillz in this.

I would definitely go to the Boat Show just to see how the Lego boat came out.

    Darn cables!

My singing teacher insists that we record our lessons so we can then practice during the week. Now, being a techie person and all, I like to transfer those lessons to CDs, so I can listen to them with newer technologies (meaning CD players or Mp3 tracks.)

To accomplish this, I bought a cable that goes from my radio to the computer. That is the same cable I have sitting on my desk at the office right now (I'm at home). So, the last singing lesson I had, I won't be able to record until I come back from work...Darn!

I have to get me another cable...

    Xmas To Do List

Well, I have almost two weeks of Xmas vacation and I figured that I should take the time and learn something new. So, I have decided to learn two things:

    1. C# - I need this for work. So, I will see if I can ramp up on it.
    2. Read music - since I am going to continue with my singing lessons, I want to learn how to read music. I know a little bit of reading music, so, I think continuing won't be that hard.

I'll keep updates on how that goes.

    Microsoft a cappella group

Well, I had auditions for the Microsoft a cappella group. I think I did pretty good. I auditioned for an alto position. I think I am not ready for soprano yet, even though my singing teacher said that I have the potential of being one.

I think I did pretty good. I'm pretty sure I did my scales right. I think I got as high as a D-5? And I went as low as an E...I think. I was nervous, so don't remember.

They asked to read some notes and try to keep the beat. I don't think I passed that.

I was also asked to pick out the low, middle and high note of a set of notes...I supposedly got them pretty close.

Finally, I was asked to sing a solo and I did: I could fall in love by Selena. I think I did that pretty nicely.

So, we shall see in a week if I got the part. Cross your fingers...
